Production FX Workflows Dragon Age

The Gnomon Workshop announced the release of the latest title focusing on FX Workflow and integration. In Production FX Workflows- Dragon Age: Origins, instructor Brandon Young breaks down and reconstructs an actual production shot from Blur Studio’s Dragon Age: Origins cinematic. This is an extremely rare glimpse into how a real production FX shot is constructed. Using an arsenal of production proven techniques and toolsets, Brandon will guide you through the assembly, render, and composite stages of this production shot, revealing techniques rarely seen outside of the studio.

"Brandon Young is truly one of the worlds most talented and complete visual effects artists. With the quality, creative ingenuity and sheer force with which he approaches his work, his shared knowledge will prove invaluable for the sincere aspiring artist."
Wayne England
Creative Director
Spatial Harmonics Group

DVD Description:

Brandon Young presents his production FX workflow by reconstructing a shot from the Dragon Age: Origins cinematic created at Blur Studio. He goes over the shot breakdown, the goals of the shot and how to achieve them quickly. Brandon shows how to use Particle Flow, FumeFX and stock elements to make the effects shine. He then delves into rendering and compositing the effects elements into the actual production shot.

Instructor Bio:

Brandon Young has been creating visual effects for games, commercials and film for seven years. As a VFX artist, Brandon has worked with many studios in Los Angeles including Blur Studio, Spatial Harmonics Group, Scanline VFX and Luma Pictures, where he worked on projects such as G.I. Joe, 2012, and Thor, as well as serving as Environment Lead on 2012. He received his degree in Animation Art and Design from the Art Institute of Seattle. While in school, Brandon studied matte painting and concept art, but ‘fell’ into FX animation and loved it. He has kept to his illustration roots, however, by showing his traditional and digital paintings in Los Angeles galleries.
