In this continuation of the Digital Sets series, visual effects designer Eric Hanson illustrates a unique and powerful method to capture and re-create natural_landscapes within a 3D environment. Integrating disparate technologies such as spherical panoramic photography, digital elevation models, high-dynamic range imagery, and global positioning, Eric is able toprovide a reasonable substitute to nodal pan motion picture shooting, with the added_ability to modify and enhance the landscape with the rich array of 3D techniques available within Maya. Various case studies are shown and provided on the DVD for_the viewer to use in their own projects.
A video tutorial by Alessandro Cangelosi on a architectural interior scene with a pool inside. Modeling the entire scene using standard poly modeling tools as extrusion, chamfer and standard primitives. Then assigning simple shader and we’ll add a basic illumination using a Sun/Sky for Mental Ray using the Daylight system and some Sky Portal. And a look at basic rendering setup using Mental Images iRay Renderer.
At some point everyone becomes enamored with surface detailing and wrinkles. In this DVD Cesar Dacol Jr. unlocks the secrets that he uses in the feature film industry. He will navigate you through the processes of internal and external forces that cause wrinkles. You will never look at a wrinkle the same way as you explore compression zones, anchor points, tissue composition and external elements in your design. Wrinkles can be complex and overwhelming, but Cesar will teach you some basic tricks that simplify the thought process behind the rhythmic patterns. You will discover the why, where and how to apply wrinkles convincingly to a sculpture. Even though this model was created in a computer using ZBrush, the methods taught are analog-based and can be easily ported into a traditional sculpture or other 3D applications like MudBox.
