This workshop will focus on digital painting and designing for animation (with an emphasis on storytelling). This includes designing practical backgrounds, characters and props using Photoshop. Erik will also cover some basic color theory, perspective and use of textures.

Erik D. Martin is a visual development artist currently working out of Los Angeles. Originally from Santa Barbara, he has studied at Art Center College of Design, LAAFA, Concept Design Academy and Gnomon School of Visual Effects. Erik has previously taught at the Art Institute. His clients include Walt Disney Consumer Products, Walt Disney Imagineering, Walt Disney Interactive, Technicolor, Big Huge Games, Tofu Girls, Nickelodeon and Kazu Kibuishi’s Amulet. You can find him outdoors landscape painting in his free time if he’s not shut up inside playing videogames.
